We are deeply saddened by the recently tragic death of the 10-month-old baby boy in Waikato.  Our hearts go out to the family and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss.

This incident highlights again the urgent need to address the serious issue of child abuse in New Zealand.

It is crucial that we come together as a community to protect our most vulnerable and ensure the safety and well-being of every child.  We must strengthen our efforts to prevent such tragedies and support families in need.

Our focus must be on creating a safe and nurturing environment for all children to grow and thrive.  We need more resources to go into programs that target prevention of abuse.

Too many resources are dedicated to reactive measures, which do not prevent child abuse. This is why, as an organization, we focus our efforts on programs that educate and empower people with simple skills to cope with changing situations and environments that may increase the risk of child abuse.  Learning today may help prevent the challenges of tomorrow.
